Who is this course best for?
This course is best for someone who just started their business and does not have a domain name or hosting for their landing page yet. It’s best for someone who is starting from scratch.
Will I be able to manage the landing page once it’s finished?
Yes you will, since you were the one who set it up and created it you can easily login to the website and update the words and images.
Will I be able to add more pages in the future?
Yes, you can add as many pages as you would like, things like adding a blogroll might be more complicated but yes, it is possible to add more pages.
How much do I need to spend on hosting?
At the beginning of your journey you shouldn’t be spending a lot of money on hosting. There are hosting providers who will charge you at least $20.00 per month but that is unessesary for a landing page. The hosting provider I recommend charges $40.00 USD for the first year and that includes the domain name as well.
Why WordPress? Why not WIX or SquareSpace to build the landing page?
These platforms have become very popular in the last few years but they have a lot of limitations. You will find once you build your website or landing page on one of these platforms there are tons of limitations when it comes to design and development. Many, many entrepreneurs have to move off of WIX or SquareSpace onto WordPress because WordPress has much, much more functionality. I use WordPress because it’s very versatility and SEO friendly.
Who is your instructor?
Megan Tegtmeyer has been designing website for over 13 years now. She is an expert in WordPress web design and she has created an online course to cater to entrepreneurs who have little to no expereince with web design to help them estabilish on online presence.
After years of experience, Megan has created a solid curriculum to get her students from nothing online to having a landing page they can market and create leads for their business.
Course Preview
- Introduction: This is a tutorial on how to create a free ASANA account and upload a CSV for the course tasks and detailed information it includes written instructions and a video.
- Phase 1: Planning. This goes over how to set up hosting and registering your domain name on Hostinger. (Video of signing up for Hostinger and backend overview), Setting up wordpress and a domain name email. Details in ASANA
- Phase 2: Branding. This lesson is all about branding, choosing your brand colors, creating a logo and getting clear on what your brand means.
- Phase 3: Content. You need content to add to your landing page so in this lesson we go over how to create content such as words and stock photos.
- Phase 4: Web Design. We will be working on installing the theme we are using and adding layouts to the landing page.
- Phase 5: Web Development. We will be doing a small amount of web development including a contact form to capture lead information from the landing page.
- Phase 6: Test and Launch. We will be going over how to test your landing page on a mobile device and finally launch the landing page for the world to see.
- Advanced Topics. We will be going over advanced topics such as SEO, expanding the landing page into a website and eCommerce.
What is the process?
